Teenage years are a confusing and complex time. These years are an important stage of development as individuals transition from childhood to adulthood.
Common issues faced by teens include parental conflict, depression, anxiety and panic, trauma, grief, divorce, bullying, negative self-concept, self-injury (cutting), and sexual abuse. All of these issues can derive some benefit from teen counseling.
In my work with teens, I utilize expressive arts therapy in addition to traditional talk therapy. Expressive therapy offers a means for expressing emotions in a less threatening manner and assists the client in learning about themselves.
